The challenge is to sort through all the specifics and find out whether the camera to meet your needs. When reviewing the data for any new camcorder, pay special attention to these items:

Before CCDs: A 3-CCD (also called 3-chip) camcorder provides much better image quality, but also much more expensive. A 3-CCDThe camera is not mandatory, but it's nice to have.

According to Progressive scan: This is another feature that is nice but not essential.

Resolution: Some cards list horizontal lines of resolution (eg, 525 lines), while others list the number of pixels (eg 690 000 pixels). In both cases it is better when it comes to resolution.

Third Optical Zoom: Cards usually list optical and digital zoom separately. Digital zoom numbers are usually high (200x, for example) and an interesting aspect. Ignore digital zoom number and focus (get it?) The optical zoom factor (which describes how well the camera lens actually sees), the optical zoom factor should be in the 12x-25x. Digital zoom cultures only the image captured by CCD and then makes each remaining pixel bigger to fill the screen image quality greatly reduced.

Fourth tape format: MiniDV is the most common format.

Fifth Batteries: you should buy one> camcorder hydride batteries used lithium-ion batteries – they last longer and are easier to maintain than NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) batteries.

Sixth Microphone connector: For reasons of sound quality, the camera must have some provisions for connecting an external microphone. Most camcorders have a standard mini-jack for external microphone, and some high-end cameras, an XLR 3-pin connector. XLR connectors – also sometimes called balanced audio connectors – used bymany high-quality microphones and PA (public address) systems.

Seventh Manual controls: Virtually all modern camcorders, offers automatic focus and exposure control, but sometimes manual control is better. Control rings around the lens are easier to use than tiny knobs or slider switches on the side of the camera – and you are using familiar with them if you already know how to use 35mm.
