The digital camcorder known as the Vixia HF200 was just released a few months ago. Compared to the other models in its class, this gadget is somewhat expensive at roughly around $600. This model is quite similar with that of the HF20 model except that the latter does not have any internal memory.

This Canon HF200 model is similar in many ways to some other models in the same class. For still images, it can only shot up to 4 mega-pixels. The model’s shutter speed is at 1/2000 sec and its minimum illumination is 0.4. This characteristic is quite identical with the other camcorders under the same class.

This device can record the maximum of 1080p with the use of an AVCHD or an MPEG-4 format. It can also record widescreen videos using its digital zoom up to 300x. Other than that, the optical zoom of this device can deliver 15 x magnifications. Its zoom capacity is similar to other cameras, but the video quality of the Vixia HF200 model can compensate for it. The capacity of its video recording is very remarkable.

Like almost all camcorders, the Vixia HF200 has the AF or auto focus illuminator that assists in shooting photos that are moving fast. This device has a xenon flash that can be used perfectly in taking pictures under low light conditions. The flash modes of this camcorder can be set to red eye reduction, fill-on and auto. Its exposure modes can be set under automatic, manual, program, shutter-priority and aperture-priority. These characteristics make this device very useful.

It also uses the DIGIC III image processor. This image processor is also used in many professional digicams. The camcorder also uses a face detection feature with an infrared remote control. The result of the videos is definitely perfection. These results would really compete with the other camcorders above its class. Unfortunately, this device doesn’t have a TV tuner built in.

The HF200 uses a Super Range optical stabilizer that helps those users whose hands tend to be shaky. This optical stabilizer helps you take clear pictures. It would also allow you to shoot videos without any blurriness. This technology allows you to enjoy taking great images and videos with quality.

This camcorder displays 211,000 pixels with the use of its rotating viewfinder. The viewfinder’s size together with its display is just right for both pictures and videos. Its TFT LCD is about 2.7 inches and the camera’s overall weight is 12 ounces, a little heavier than some in its class. It also has a built-in expansion card which accepts an SD Memory card. The camcorder‘s package includes a component video output, RCA, headphones, HDMI and usb.

The Vixia HF200 has a rechargeable 890 mAh Li-on battery that can be used for several hours. This $600 camcorder is on the heavy side, but its stylish and functional design is so easy to use. If compared to the HF20, the HF200 is much better considering it has a 32GB memory. Even if it lacks some of the still imaging features of a camera, this device is greatly recommended for video recording.
